Organizations have primary drivers – motive or driving forces – which deliberately steer the ship. The problem is that they’re often not deliberately set but arise from unconscious default, according to strategy mastermind Dr Alan Weiss.
I’ve had the enriching opportunity to learn from and be coached by Weiss and have profited greatly from my experiences with him. My Strategic September resource recommendation for week three is “Sentient Strategy, How to Create Market-Dominating Strategies in Turbulent Economics”, by Dr Alan Weiss, one of his 60 plus books that he has authored.
You may remember that my suggestion last week was “Top Management Strategy” by Tregoe and Zimmermann. Alan Weiss worked with Ben Tregoe decades ago and both share an ability to cut through the abstractions of strategic hocus-pocus and offer thoughtful and pragmatic guidelines for strategy excellence.
Sentient Strategy was released earlier this year and is a must read for strategy minded leaders. His insights are anchored in business experiences, span.ning many decades and even if you don’t agree with every insight, you will find that this is a strategy resource that provokes and stimulates strategic thinking and acting.
That’s my tip for week three and looking forward to hearing about additional strategy resources from you in the commentary below. And I’ll be here next week to share another game changing resource in the final week of our Strategic September!
